An introduction to scattering and inverse scattering problems

Student-Run Research Seminar

Speaker: Hsiao-Chieh (Arcade) Tseng, UC Davis
Location: 2112 MSB
Start time: Wed, May 18 2011, 12:10PM

Scattering problems are of fundamental interests in optics and acoustics, and the study of inverse scattering plays an important role in computer tomography, detection, and imaging. A brief introduction to both direct and inverse scattering problems are given, including an overview of classic techniques for inverse scattering such as linear sampling, factorization, and the MUSIC algorithms. I will also introduce my current research on the inverse scattering problem of periodic and subwavelength-structured surfaces under Rayleigh hypothesis, with analysis in compressive sensing.
