Ferromagnetic Ordering of Energy Levels

The ferromagnetic Heisenberg chain with open boundary conditions is known to satisfy an ordering of ground state energies with maximal total spin being the lowest and minimal total spin being the highest. We find sufficient conditions for which nearest neighbor SU(2) invariant Hamiltonians preserve this property. This is joint work with Bruno Nachtergaele and Shannon Starr.
