Description
In the afternoon Discrete Math lecture, I will present mathematical results on the combinatorial
structure of Ancestral Recombination Graphs (ARGs). In this morning lecture, I want to
motivate interest in recombination and ARGs by discussing two current techniques in genetics
and genomics where recombination is key to the logic of the methods.
The morning lecture will contain *no* mathematics - just illustrations
motivating the study of recombination, and a leisurely introduction to
recombination and ARGs.
