Cosmological puzzles for mathematicians

Mathematical Physics Seminar

Theoretical cosmology is at an exciting phase where certain core ideas have proven very successful. However, the implementation of these ideas has led to some difficult puzzles that preoccupy theoretical cosmologists. This talk presents from among these puzzles topics on which I would especially enjoy hearing a mathematician's perspective. Topics include ergodicity, typicality and the arrow of time, the nature of probability in the multiverse, and the meaning of infinity.
