Toric Symplectic Manifolds and Delzant Polytopes

I will begin this talk with an introduction to symplectic manifolds, Hamiltonian actions and Delzant polytopes. Next I will discuss the bijective correspondence between Delzant polytopes and sympletic toric manifolds, an important class of symplectic manifolds, via the moment map. Finally I will explain how to obtain information on the cohomology of the toric manifold can be obtained through Delzant polytope using Morse Theory.
