Tropical Curves

Student-Run Research Seminar

Speaker: Florian Block, UC Berkeley
Location: 2112 MSB
Start time: Mon, Nov 19 2012, 12:10PM

I will explain what tropical curves are, how they appear as a "logarithmic limit" of classical algebraic curves, and compute some examples. Then we'll prove the tropical Bezout theorem. Finally, we'll look at some higher dimensional examples of tropical varieties.
