On the Rigorous Derivation of the 3D Cubic Nonlinear Schroedinger Equation with A Quadratic Trap

In this talk, I will talk about how the 1-body nonlinear harmonic oscillator arises from the N-body linear Schroedinger equation as N->infinity. This could be viewed as the quantum version of the Kac's program. In physics, it corresponds to the justification of the Gross-Pitaevskii limit in Bose-Einstein condensation.
