Schroedinger MapsPDE and Applied Math Seminar
|Speaker: ||Paul Smith, UC Berkeley|
|Location: ||1147 MSB|
|Start time: ||Tue, Oct 8 2013, 3:10PM|
Schroedinger maps appear in physics as a Heisenberg model of ferromagnetism. From this system arises a covariant system of L^2-critical nonlinear Schroedinger equations which may be studied using techniques from dispersive PDE. We will give an introduction to the known local and global theory and discuss some recent joint work with Ben Dodson.
