On the classification of gapped phases in one dimension

In the first part of this talk, I will show that a certain set of completely positive maps over a finite dimensional matrix algebra satisfying a spectral gap condition is arcwise connected. The second part of the talk will be dedicated to the application of this result to the classification of ground state phases of quantum spin chains.
