Intro Talk: Prescribing The Angle of Lagrangian Graphs

Student-Run Geometry/Topology Seminar

Speaker: Adam Jacob, UC Davis
Location: 2112 MSB
Start time: Tue, Jan 19 2016, 11:00AM

This talk will be an intro to the following talk, which will be given in the Faculty-run seminar at 1:00pm on 1/19/16: I will define the special Lagrangian graph equation with potential introduced by Harvey-Lawson, followed by a definition of the Lagrangian angle of the graph. I will prove that if this angle is constant than the graph is a calibrated submanifold and thus a minimal surface. I will then discuss how to solve the equation using the method of continuity. This is joint work with Tristan C. Collins and S.-T. Yau.
