Second quantized MSW strings on K3 fibrations

Mathematical Physics Seminar

M5-branes wrapped on a divisor of a Calabi-Yau 3-fold produce an effective string with (0,4) supersymmetry: the Maldecena-Strominger-Witten (MSW) string. The associated elliptic genus is an important invariant that governs the counting of D4-D2-D0 bound states in physics and (generalized) Donaldson-Thomas invariants in mathematics. In this talk, I will present a recent result which is valid for an arbitrary number of M5-branes when they wrap K3 fibres. I will also discuss work in progress that explores the limit of large brane number and the emergence of a 3d holographic dual.
