Description
I will discuss tangent distributions, foliations, and plaid (hence the title "hipster") structures on a smooth manifold and give some elementary properties of the de Rham complex of a plaid manifold. I'll then talk about a plaid structure on the Lie algebra of a plaid Lie group.
