Extending two properties of trees to higher dimensions

Geometry/Topology

It is well known that (1) every tree is planar and (2) every tree has at least two leaves. We discuss how to extend these facts to higher dimensional complexes. We focus on particular on three properties that characterize trees among one-dimensional complexes: contractibility, collapsibility, nonevasiveness.

This is joint work with Karim Adiprasito and Frank Lutz.
