Student-Run Geometry/Topology Seminar

Speaker: Diaaeldin Taha, University of Washington
Location: MSB 3106
Start time: Tue, Oct 1 2019, 11:00AM

The Farey fractions are a famous enumeration of the rationals that permeate several fields of mathematics. In 2001, F. Boca, C. Cobeli, and A. Zaharescu introduced a dynamical system, now increasingly known as the BCZ system, that can be used to describe several statistical properties of the Farey fractions. In this talk, we review the BCZ dynamical system and its applications to classical Farey statistics.
