Quantized transport and Abelian anyons

In this talk, I will discuss a new rational-valued index. Physically, it is the charge transported across a fiducial line. Mathematically, it is a generalization of a Fredholm index. Interestingly, the value of the index is related to the charges of the elementary excitations of the system as well as to their braiding properties.
