Combinatorics in geometry

I am interested in combinatorial aspects of geometric representation theory and algebraic geometry. I am currently working on a problem relating Goresky, Kottwitz, and Macpherson's study of the "affine Springer fiber" to some open conjectures in Macdonald theory. Recently, I have also been studying an application of computational topology in connection to nonconvex optimization problems.
