Spiders and representations of quantum groups

Student-Run Research Seminar

Speaker: Haihan Wu, UC Davis
Location: 3106 MSB
Start time: Wed, Nov 16 2022, 11:00AM

Graphs have been widely used in the study of representation theory. It is known that the representation category of quantum sl_2 is equivalent to the Temperley-Lieb category, which can be defined graphically. Greg Kuperberg made a generalization from the sl_2 case to the rank two Lie algebras, and named the corresponding graphical categories Spiders. People have further generalized Spiders to other cases, including sl_n and recently sp_{2n}. In this talk, I will review background materials and talk about recent developments on Spiders for other Lie types.
