Green's Functions for Functionally Graded Materials and Strain Gradient Elasticity Theory
Applied MathSpeaker: | Youn-Sha Chan, Oak-Ridge National Lab |
Location: | 693 Kerr |
Start time: | Fri, Oct 25 2002, 4:10PM |
Concept of functionally graded materials (FGMs) will be introduced, and a brief review of strain gradient elasticity will be given. Governing partial differential equations for FGMs and strain gradient elasticity are derived, and the corresponding Green's functions will be presented. Numerical methods solving the crack problems in FGMs with strain gradient elasticity are discussed, and some numerical results, including crack displacement profiles and stress intensity factors, will be provided in the talk.
