Title: Some Fundamental Issues and challenges in Quantum ComputationSpecial Events
|Speaker:||Dorit Aharonov, Hebrew University, Jerusalem|
|Start time:||Wed, Feb 18 2004, 4:10PM|
Quantum computation is a fascinating area at the intersection of Mathematics, Computer science and Physics, with a dash of Philosophy. In this introductory talk I will focus on what I view as the two main challenges in the field today: Protecting quantum computation from noise, and breaking past our current barrier in the design of quantum algorithms. I will talk about our achievements in these directions, the implications to foundational questions in computer science and physics, and the challenges that lie ahead.
