Transport in 2D disordered magnetic systems

Special Events

Speaker: Jeffrey Schenker, Institute for Advanced Study

The presence of a magnetic field can have a profound effect on quantum dynamics. In this talk, the proof of transport in 2D magnetic systems with extensive disorder, based on the quantization of the Hall conductance, will be discussed. The models described, although of a very special nature, provide the only examples to date in which one can verify that a Schroedinger operator with extensive randomness gives rise to non-trivial transport.
